Help my Xbox doesn't read any Xbox games. It will read CD's but will not read any games. This has just started happening like a couple of months ago, and it's getting kind of annoying. There are no error messages/blackscreens or flashing lights or anything (at least to my knowledge). I have cleaned the Xbox throughly (I didn't remove the drive and clean it). When it came back on it wanted me to input the clock, I haven't got that far into setting it all up again. The light however, is green and that's the color the light is when it reads games and cd's. Am I going to be able to read games after setting it all up and everything? Anyone know?

Hey, Delete some of the crap form the hard drive, and see if that helps.. Also you might be using the wrong xbox... You might be using the one that reads the united kingdom setup .. if that makes any since.. Also how old is your xbox??? That could be some problembs, remember it has intel under the hood!!!

I mean intel in a bad way!!! They are crappy!!!

Any other questions, and i will be happy to answer them...

    Thanks,
    Triock

I have deleted everything off of the hard drive and it has worked with games before. The Xbox I would say is about a year and a half old.

your disk drive might be gone or you might just need to clean the laser.try cleaning the laser if that doesnt work buy a new disk drive.

If your E: is full, it won't read any game that has never been in your xbox before.

But it sounds like your disc drive is going bad...Is it a Thompson?

You might need to replace. They are plug and play so its not difficult.

I have no idea what model the drive is. When I cleaned it, there was a LOT of dust in it, so that might have been the problem. I'll try playing a game later tonight.

It didn't work. But now I get an error message when turning on the console and trying to play a game. The error message is: "Your Xbox cannot recognize this disk, check to make sure it's an xbox game, cd, or movie. Also make sure the disk is not damaged. Please eject the disk to contiue"
    Any more ideas?
(Links to new dvd drives would be helpful, from reputable manufacturer's if possible ((Amazon, Walmart, Target, Microsoft, etc)))

Will any DVD ROM drive work with the Xbox or do I have to get a specific one?

Where can I get one? An earlier poster told me to check out Newegg, but I'm going to need one that is going to work.
