XBOX DRIVE CANNOT READ DISK

    I just got a refurbished xbox and it cannot read any disks at all--i took apart the cd drive and watched it work and i works just fine and everything is clean relubricated --it looks brand new it justs doesnt read any disks--they spin up then slow down then spin up and slow down again. any help

    is the disk the original games?

    Yeah the games are original and brand new in fact because i cant play any of them. it cannot play cds either

    Well since you just bought it. Go return and get a NEW one. NOT the refurbish.

    Did you read me right i said i took apart the cd drive i really doubt their gonna take a refurbished xbox back thats been opened--im looking to solve this problem not just get rid of it and get another one because the same thing is going to eventually happen to the next one.

    Check your IDE cable, Try to replace it with a different one.
    If still does not work, Damn I dont know how to fix this problem.

    No it still doesnt work (that thing the laser sits on doesnt move at all (its supposed to swing back and fourth and it doesnt0 any help.

    Does the dvd drive have power?

    I was wondering that too but he did mention that it spins up so the drive is getting power. Can you see if the laser at least comes on (laser eye turns red)?

    Like he said, the lazer did not move at all. The dvd drive broke 99%.

    Ya, def sounds broke. With the $$ he saved buying a refurb. he can now get a new drive. 8^)

    @ ire... which drive is in it (thomp., sam., hita)?

    the drive says thompson so i think its a thompson.

    anyone know where i can get one for cheap but good quality
