I have this old xbox with a thomson drive and I've not used it for like 2 - 3 months >_> Now recently when I started my xbox, it doesn't read disks I mean if I insert a disk (even an original xbox game or an Audio disk or even a DVD movie) it spins the disk and after a long time, no reply =.= So I opened up my xbox and then cleaned the DVD lens with a little moist ear buds but to no vail So is there any other substitution ?? I've heard about this connecting the PC DVD drive to the xbox and that can help play xbox backups too
right first of all you should not of cleaned it with a cotton bud ( you risked scratching it ) should of used a lens cleaner but beacuse it has not worked then you have two options 1st to see if it needs focusing ( but you need some one that is realy good with electronics and knows how to use a ohm meter and know there is a way round a pc ) the second one is too buy a new/secondhand xbox dvd rom drive beacuse you will not find a pc dvd rom drive that will work or fit it, beacuse xbox dvd rom runs at a faster pace and is a totally different drive. The driver is known as a tgm 600 and will cost a fair bit of money to replace but if you think its worth it then just change the whole dvd rom ( it doesn't matter what make) if you need the link to the site that will tell you how to focus the laser then go to http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/~xbox/xbo...son-DVD-drive-laser-adjustment-procedure.pdf. Ok.... I hope this helps from ds_dude all i ask is let me know when you have done it and if you know how to put roms on to the slayer v2.5 or have the roms ready and working for it then send them me please i need them lol.
^ LOL Which roms are you talkking about ?? The n64 roms or some other rom ??? Every emulator has a different rom directory neways, thanx for the help man Irony that I'm getting this post after a whole month on the exact date I know little about electronics and have a DMM I'll try it out As it is, the DVD drive is already spoilt, so no harm trying some "screwing up" things on it EDIT : btw, a DMM is a multimeter An Ohmmeter (i.e it can measure the resistance) Ammeter, Voltmeter and many things ^^ I saw the guide you gave me and it is something to do with reducing the resistance of lens >.> That way more current will flow through the lens and it'll read even more properly ^_^
all i want to know is if i can put the roms on to the xbox with out linking it up to my laptop or if i can put them on a disk and play them that way ( and what i need to put on the disc when i burn it and so on ) and the emus are adamx pcxbox super nintendo entertainment system surreal 64 z26x p.s if you need any more help with replacing the driver then just ask but its all look and lern with it lol
Well, every emulator has a different path for roms Dunno about the others but I know about the surreal64 rom path First, go to your Surreal64 directory and open the "surreal.ini" file The "Rom path" will be written there ^_^ Check out gOOgle for the rom path of the other emulators
