I purchased a xbox 360 for my son for Christmas. I have tried everyway that I have seen on the internet to play Splinter Cell with no success. The internet said to buy xbox harddrive, check. The internet said download backwards compatibility file, check. I keep getting error: Game Error The game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again. For more help, visit www.xbox.com/support.
orginal xbox games require a hard drive and the xbox360 must be connected to the internet in order to download the Backward compatibility update for orginal xbox games to play on the xbox 360. also, not all orginal xbox games can be played on the xbox 360.
is the game scratched up ?? if so try cleaning the disc if that doesn't work i'd say that you might have a defective disc. what do you mean try downloading the game again?? is this an orginal xbox game or burn't disc?
take the game to your nearest gamestop and ask them if they could test the disc for you,to see if it is either your disc or your system. is the game ntsc or pal
it means the region the game is from would pay to check what region you fall under & if it's PAL then the cheapest method to play game is get an original xbox & chip it,then install game to the hdd as it will play direct without need for disc insertion after installation
here is the list of backwards compatable games that run on the xbox 360 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360 tom clancy's splinter cell is supported. i'd say you have a defective disc. you might try to exchange the disc for another one.
yea i stripped down my original xbox collection to games that where on this list i am really happy i have one cd folder full of 360 games and the xbox games that work on the 360 and the rest are with my original modded xbox's in storage
are you sure you have a hard drive? 4gb internal memory is not a hard drive, and also it must be an original hard drive, one made from a blue scorpion will never work!
Funny, mine do both work. One is made from a Scorpio Black, the other one from a Scorpio Blue, both with the Security Sectors from 320 GB Xbox 360 harddrives, both with partition 2 injected. Just played the first Mercenaries on my Slim.
i've never had a lot of luck with those, i've had maybe 2 over the years that will, i guess its just getting lucky!
I don't think so, it's just that most people forget to inject the partition 2, then the emulator for old games won't work.
There are 3 games that MS WONT let you play on the 360. 1) Splinter cell http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9755/hpim3201.jpg 2) MechAssault http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V1K_GB1bg...x8/o9_V5PwK6co/s1600/MechAssault_Coverart.png 3)007 http://www.biline.ca/X-Box/007work.jpg Each one of these games had exploits that allowed you to soft mod the original Xbox and and install custom dashboards, run burned games, homebrew apps. MS Didn't/doesnt want to make the same mistake with the 360, so they disabled certain games to prevent easy hacking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softmod#Softmods_for_Microsoft_Xbox
