ok.. yesterday i softmodded my xbox with the mechinstaller...
when i turn the xbox on it shows the evolution x v+3935
i need help with a couple of issues...

    1) what model harddrive will work ( i understand it has to be locking) and i also found the xbox compatibility chart.. but it seems to be a bit out dated..

    2) does anyone know a way i can do the swap without actually installing a modchip?? I'm starting to get a lot of stuff on the harddrive now.. emulators and such and i just know there has to be a way of replacing the harddrive without having a mod chip...

i was thinking i could just ftp all the files to the harddrive i get and then hook it up.. but for some reason that seems to be too easy... so someone please help me out here... i also need to know how to lock the harddrive up once i get all my files to it and such

    I learned from iBotModz.net

You need an harddrive which has the ability to lock and unlock and is usually with more than 60 gigabytes. Its too easy to drag n drop files. You need to get the eeprom off your old xbox and move it to your new xbox to "lock" that newer hardrive with it. Use xboxHDM1.9 to create a backup of your old harddrive, gather the eeprom, then follow that program to install the new one.

If you need any more help, come to iBotModz.net. This site topics flow toooooo fast for me to help anyone anymore.

Here is a list of great FAQs for xbox. In it you will find a step by step procedure to swap HDD. I used it to install a WD 320G HDD. You can even go bigger if you want. If after reading the FAQ, you still have questions, this forum is an excellent source for help. A big issues is finding the correct eeprom.bin, the one you backed up during the softmod (I also used MA).
