xbox hdd store games?

    hello, i am pretty new to the xbox. i heard from a few people that i can sawp the hard-drive on my xbox and there is a way the xbox will store games into the hard-drive as a stand alone unit. i.e. no pc. is there any truth to this? and if so where could i find more info ?
