i have read about hot swaping but for what i have read both xboxs need to reach the xbox start up but my xbox mother bourd is fried and unable boot its just a red circle of death. i have thee eerprom backed up with the E drive on my pc i have anthor softmoded xbox is their a way fro me to put the hd from the fried xbox into the new soft modded xbox?
If you have the EEPROM for the softmodded one, then you can format the other one so it will work on Xbox that isn't fried.
how would i go about doing that it has been a while since i messed around with the xbox i now where all the files r but what exactly would i need to do

while i was reading the tutorial it say this will restore the hdd to normal? i have alot of information on it and only wish to take the hd from the dead xbox(starts up 3times then flashes red) and put it into anthor working soft modded xbox. Would it be easier to buy a mod chip and attempt to fix the dead xbox or remarry the hd?
I have never used a modchip, so I can't help you. But when you format a hard drive, you erase EVERYTHING on it (making it stock), and then it formats the Xbox software so it will work. Then it needs to be locked. It's worth a go to see if the dead HDD will work again, but yes everything will be erased.
i would rather not have the information erased on the 1 hdd it has over 40games on it alot that i dont have and other stuff witch took me awhile to create. i do have both E and C drives back up if i could reformat the hd from the dead motherboard xbox(starts up 3 times then flashes red) with the working mybe using config magic?
i have read on anthor forum that if i make a boot cd with old xbox eerprom(have no idea how to make) booth the workin xbox with the broken xbox hd in it put cd in it should unlosk the hd then have anthor cd with the new eerprom on it place it into the cd drive and lock the hdd it will work, but i have no idea on how to make a boot cd to do this
