Xbox & Linux

Hi, I currently have an original Xbox which I don't use, and I'd like to install a bigger hard drive and turn it into a Linux server with which i can use both as a desktop and as a media server for my xbox 360. I have never modded before so I would like to know what would be the best way in order to do this and what would be the best linux distro and other software to use?
