I know that if i play a backup dvd using the dvd drive firmware hack, i will be banned (correct me if im wrong) But if i put in an original copy of a game, can i play it online with out being banned? Or do i have to put in the original firmware first to play it online?

No you won't be banned if you just play the original halo 2. You will only be banned if you play with modded maps.

    Try again...
The Xbox Live system looks at your Xbox HDD.
It is supposed to scan what files you have on your drive and will notice the modded files.
You will be banned even if you use a origonal Halo disk, it all depends on the Hard Drive

Yes, but we're talking about a dvd drive with modified firmware not the hard drive. So no, you won't be banned.
