I know that if i play a backup dvd using the dvd drive firmware hack, i will be banned (correct me if im wrong) But if i put in an original copy of a game, can i play it online with out being banned? Or do i have to put in the original firmware first to play it online?

    Original "firmware"

I assume you are using a dual boot softmod? In which case then your load up the Xbox in RETAIL mode (Original Firmware) usually by pressing eject then putting in the game, closing the disc tray and letting it load up the game. Make sure the light is GREEN and not red or any other colour before signing in.

i do not have a dual boot softmod

I read that if we can update the firmware exactly the same way with the 360 where if the firmware is updated we use the xbox drive to read the disc, then burn it onto a disc, and the just drop in the disc into the xbox.

"theSpecialist released a tool that unlocks an (original) Xbox DVD-ROM drive, attached to a PC, so you can access a DVDXBOX disc from PC (using tools like Clone CD) without having to FTP to your modded Xbox. Easiest is probably to connect the IDE-cable of your Xbox DVD-drive to your PC and keep the cable for power/eject connected to the Xbox. Note that Windows must be able to detect your Xbox drive. Some Xbox drives (like the Philips) seem to be not detectable by Windows."

Ok, well, in that case - No. You must launch the XBOX in RETAIL mode in order to play on Live.

Ok, i so i took a look at that and it explained a lot of things.

But i just have a few questions, can i play burned games online without being detected using this method, and if not, to play an original game online, would i have to revert it, or just insert the game as it said?
This means that i don't have to upgrade my firmware right?

Also, i am a huge Halo 2 fan, would i still get banned if i dont mod the game in anyway?

I just forgot that you said i have to load it up in retail mode by pressing the eject button first.

So does that mean that i can't burned games online and that if i was going to play a burned game, i would firt press the power button then the eject button?

You cannot play burned/copied games online. At all. You can play your originals online by loading the original Microsoft firmware. but no matter what, copies online is not possible.

Ok. so to load the original firmware to play an original online, i just press eject and put in the game, but if i want to play a burned game (not online) i first press the power button then the eject button?

Also how would i burn and play burned games?
Is it like a ps2 where i would just use dvd decrypter to read and burn the game?
Would i have to ftp it and save it onto the hard drive?
Or do i have to connect the xbox dvd drive to the computer to use it to read the game and then burn it with my computer drive?
