I have original xbox and i moved to a university(i live in an apartment) in january. When i got here my online worked fine. Now the past 2 weeks I can not play nothing. I upgraded to the local internet high speed and it seems like it started around that time(cable). I have halo 2 and madden 08. My past 20 games in madden I can't get through 1 play without it disconnecting me but then I can sign right back in like nothing happens. It only disconnects once I start a game. I tried Halo 2 and once I get into the game I am red bar and it blue screens all game and sometimes disconnects me. I have tried everything with the cords and router. I have called xbox live and my local internet provider. I have tried plugging the cord directly from the modem to the xbox but it will not connect when I do that. Anyone know why? or what my problem might be? - my router is WRT54G linksys and my wireless internet is fine and never loses it's connection for my computer. - I have also went to xbox live website and looked at router problems and they said for my router you might need to turn off UPnP and I have tried that and it still disconnects me. -- i thought about my firewall (norton) and I turned that and windows firewall off. I played halo 2 and i went to blue screen(lag) 2-3 times a game but finished each game. I havn't tried madden 08 yet but going to blue screen is still not good. My friend has the same setup (modem/router) and his works fine
its mostlikey xboxs fault theyve been having a VERY bad problem with lag and disconnection and connection interuptions the past month or two
well other people seem to be fine. Not as bad as me. On my past matches it says D/C(disconnect) for the last 19/20 games. I have only completed 1 game and that was cause my opp. quit
One would have to assume ports for that issue in above quote, don't ask me how to sort it out i'd have enough trouble with ADSL port forwarding if it were'nt for auto detection..lol.. as for connecting thru the comp & dropping connection ?? is it possible the computer refreshes it's connection i'm not sure if cable does that, i know ADSL sure does or more correctly my comp does, yeah not much help tho that's all i got ,oh "NEVER" turn off the firewall it's your only protection against web attacks, your antivirus is not or should it ever be your first line of defence. EDIT: Does'nt ms have the ports listings for your game that you need to open, sony au/nz does on certain games for the ps2
