I just read an article talking about how Microsoft thinks that 50% of 360 owners will subscribe to Live. The interesting part I saw was that only 10% of current Xbox owners subscribe. This is amazing to me because to me the Xbox would not be nearly as nice without Live connection. I remember with Halo 1 I used to use gamespy and xbconnect, but that was a hassle operating both the xbox and the website at the same time.
Wow, I would think it would be alot more than 10%, although alot of people are still stuck on dial-up. I'm one of the lucky ones with cable
and im one of the unlucky one that can't get dsl or cable and is on dial up please dont suggest a dsl provider cause i live is little town of in kentucky and this town phone comapany has a BIG monopoly over the line =/ and im like a mile fron the dsl line ! >.<
Yea if you want to get speeds slightly better than dial up and pay $100 a month, get satelite internet...what a rip off.
Well I don't know what Uncle Sam company your getting your info from but Star Band has $49.99 monthly fee with 256kbs upload speed and 1mb download speed.
sattelite internet sucks more than dial up cause gaming over sattelite is worse and sattilite has a limited amout of usage
Well, I recently read an article on how a new method for connecting to high speed Internet has been invented. Ready or not . . . AC OUTLET! Here is the link to some of the articles: http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,59205,00.html http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/03/02/biz_biz1acin.html Somehow it uses standard electrical outlets to connect and creates a network for everything in your house conencted to a power outlet--the article even says it is faster than ethernet. Awesome. Only bad thing is that we all know it will be forever before the cable/dsl companies allow such technology to really enter the US market. Shame.
Hmm...that cant be that new since I saw AC Networking a few years ago when I was looking into getting HighSpeed internet.
You're actually right--AC networking has been out for quite a few years now, but the marketing is now catching on. I saw an article from 2003 about AC networking when I was looking into it. So who knows how long the technology has actually been around. Remember, who had really bought CD's before the early 1990's? The CD was invented in 1979!! So let's be realistic here, AC networking is awesome: it is convenient because you don't have to have special ethernet or cable jacks anywhere special in the house, afterall, federal law mandates that all new homes have AC outlets every so many feet in a house. So this would do away with the need for wireless networking in a house as well! But as you said, you heard about it a few years ago, how many others have? Bet not too many. It is being suppressed as a technology just like hybrid cars and hygrogen cars are. Slow integration into the market.
