I'm trying to get Xbox live working, and I was pretty sure that I was doing everything just fine!

    ...But I was wrong!

I plugged in the cable into my high speed internet modem, and when I tried to connect to Xbox live, it told me that the cables were connected. So, I thought that everything was going all right and I was really happy.

But of course, I was wrong!

I got an error which said the following devestating words: "The network gateway could not be reached. Verify the IP addresses match the settings provided by your ISP. See www.xbox.com/connect for more information."

Please help, I am just so ever confused. I really want to play Xbox live, but now it seems my dream is slowly fading away, and that's a devestating thought.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I really am in quite a pickle.

More than that, I have to go on an extremely long trip after this, so I was hoping I could get an answer quickly before I have to leave my Xbox behind for months! Please, I need an answer urgent!

Once again, I really do not mean to sound rude.

The same thing happened to me. Just go into your MS dashboard and go into your Live settings. Click on IPS i think it is. Either way its the very top one. Click it from Manual to Automatic and it should work. If not Im sorry I couldnt help.

Ok this all depends on just how you have your XBOX™ connected to the iNet. I personaly have it behind the PC (via X-Over Cat-5E Cable) So the Default Gateway would be the same as my IP Address (i.e. 192.168.0.1),. If you have your XBOX™ directly connected to the iNet No PC's, Mac's or other Firewalls in front of it. You shouldn't have a problem connecting. But, if you need to know the 'Default Gateway' of your ISP. Here's how you can find out On Windows

Click Start -> Run: Type in 'cmd' W/o '' and then either <Enter> or OK to bring up the Command Line Interface (i.e. DOS Box),. Type in the DOS BOX 'ipconfig /all' (again W/o the '') now you should have all the information about your local IP your ISP's IP and the location of your ISP's Deafult Gateway!

If I havent already illuded to this, it should be apperent to you that in order to get this info you need to first be up and running on the iNet. DUH!!
