MAN. My xbox 360 sits ontop of my computer tower in my room upstars. My computer is wireless thanks to the magic of belkin. Do i have to take my xbox downstairs and hook it up with the cable to the router to go online without buying the wireless adaptor or can i hook my 360 up to the net VIA my computer in my room?
    please Advise . . .

yes, its called "Internet Connection Sharing" The steps are confusing to list here, and it is better to use the Wizard to perform it anyway.
To get to the instructions on the computer, click start, then "help and Support". Search for "ICS" (The acronym for Internet Connection Sharing)
Then select "Enable Internet Connection Sharing on a network connection" and follow the steps.

CAT5 cables are pretty cheap so that may be the way to go. Personally i like wireless adapters (not the one from MS but a good one) so i can have it on any TV in the house.

well only way i can help is if you lust all your settings so i can see if anything looks wrong.

Like what IP address does the computer show (go to start-all programs-accessories-then click on command prompt. When you get it type ipconfig/all and it will list everything needed to set up your 360)

Then after you have that you should be able to enter an ip address in the same range, like if the PC was 192.168.1.100 you set the xbox to use something like 192.168.1.105 as long as no other device on the network is using that IP.

All other settings you eneter will match the settings on the PC exactly.

I have never set up much in the way of connection sharing, but all you should have to do is enable it on your main connection, whichever computer that is, and everything else should be able to connect.

There are also "networking for dummies" type programs out there that will automatically detect and set up anything that plugs into the network.

You can also try opening the required connection ports for the 360 in your router settings.
