Hi there. I have a friend who said he went online with his RETAIL microsoft dashboard as mentioned in the tutorial. And he instantly cannot connect to Xbox Live. He get's the troubleshooter. When he does the trouble shooter, he gets a message saying the hardware or software has been modified. And has been permanently banned. I was wondering if Microsoft have released an update to ban softmodded xbox's regardless of whether it is running retail mode or modded mode. Just a question before I try to sign into live. -Mike
I don't think so.....Does he have an upgraded hard drive.....Sometimes if you sign onto live with an upgraded HDD I think they ban your eeprom....not sure though.Ummmm whenever they do updates they usually tell you before they do it....When he went into live did he see an update box?
Hey toocool. Nah he doesen't have an upgraded hard drive. But one thing is I think he may have changed his EEPROM to NTSC before he tried to sign in. Which may well be why. And naw he never saw an update box. He just gets that error. Just as well I never went online with him as a guest, eh? I need confirmation from someone who has a softmodded xbox, that they can sign into live as normal. He only just softmodded his xbox yesterday and he may have changed his EEPROM to NTSC before he signed in (he has signed in before but with a PAL EEPROM this is why I think he may have gotten banned) -Mike
yes thats how it works, if you have any modified content, including softmod, even without the dashboard active, you WILL be banned.

Well anyways, back to the question.. My Bros. and I have been playing XBL for awhile with the new endure mod. The way we set up ours is if you hit the big button on the Box, then it boots to the original Dash and XBL can't tell the difference. Shahabad,..
yea that is true it does boot from there and yes u still will get banned it happened to me and 3 other people but i and the other guys had a modified map so i dont know wheter to go on live with the modded dash or not but n e wayz i got one of the up to date ones so i wont get banned as easy.... yea my xbox dash and all my drives got deleted i cried it fuckin suks am a stupid ass kid thats a modder i hat fuckin microsft
oh yea, i also upgraded my hard drive so is ther someting i can do to access xbox live, i dont want to cheat in matchmaking, i just want to play custom games with my freinds and change back to my stock drive to play matchmaking
ok i have a softmodded xbox with unleashx dashboard i turn all the maps off or clear them i try to sign in it wants to update i click yes on update and it brings me to error 21 screen does any1 no wat that meens
