    Have you got your eeprom?

Use my tutorials to build the HDD again and also to softmod it!

If you can load the softmod screen, you can backup your eeprom and then FTP whilst the Softmod screen is open to get your eeprom on to your PC

Why don't you just use your chip?

Does it load to the MS Dash?

Did it load DVDs when the chip was in it?

Well it loads to the flubber screen. then it flips to the updating xbox live screen then it says "xbox live is not responding please try again later" and when u hit "a" or whatever it stays at that message. And the chips out of the question because he lost it and thinks his friend threw it out. lol

Ive tried all of your solutions. I havent had any luck unless im doing something wrong. It doesnt seem like its unlocking. is there any easy way to verify this? and then ill take it from there.

Verification is quite simple, induce error 12...unlocked!

    ;)

I tried 12 and 13 but it just wont unlock. Im using xboxhdm to read it. I know im not doing te process wrong because i upgraded my main xbox o a 120 gig and my friends to a 200 gig. I was wondering if my drive (maxtor) has a master password or my chip would have set one when i upgraded it the first time using the chip? And for a random question. This was answered before but it doesnt make any sense. Are you (the person who answered the question originally) sure that theres no way to get the xbox to read a external hard drive. Using the method in chunckheads tutorial collection but instead of a flash drive it would be a hard drive (external)

HDD upgrades involving a modchip normally don't lock the drive at all! Maxtors are a pain in the ass, have major locking issues.

You CAN'T use an external drive enclosure. Only IDE

Let me get the picture set...

The Xbox has a unmodded, stock HDD. It is stuck in the "XboxLIVE Loop". you are having trouble unlocking?

    You need to hotswap.

If you induce the error 12, it IS unlocked. Unless there is something I don't know about like a HDD change or it's the wrong HDD (Which it can't be, it wouldn't load to the LIVE screen) one of the Hotswap procedures will work!

Have you tried both? XboxHDM and Xplorer360?

Also try another PC as some motherboards give hassle!

Its not a stock hard drive its a maxtor. The original drive was copied using a chip onto the present maxtor. I am having problems unlocking and i have tried xboxhdm and xplorer360 neithor work.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying! The chip doesn't use eeproms. It's probably not even locked!

Anyway, do you get the error 12 screen?

If you unlug the HDD do you get the Error 7-9?

You'll just need to keep playing with the hotswaps until one works!

I have provided some 'Tips' for hotswapping in my troubleshooter, give them a go!
