can someone please give me their advice or experience with xbox mod chips. I have read and see a chip called the Matrix Xbox Mod chip that says it doesn't need to be soldered or any wires. Would this chip boot dvd+r? Can someone provide me with another method of getting a good mod chip? Is there a chip that you can have and still play online? Thanks to anyone who helps.

you will not be able to play copied games online with a modchip, but the mods now allow you to install an external switch to attach to your modchip, so you will be able to turn the mod off and on, on for copied games, and off for xbox live.
Matrix chip doesn't need to be soldered, but i don't think it comes wit a bios, so you will have to find one on the net, but the matrix comes with a programming attachment. booting dvd+r depends on your xbox dvd-rom drive, is it picky on what kind of media it reads, so you gotta test your lucky with different media

The xbox will read both types of media + and - R. Just don't buy cheap shit.. it is very picky about media. i presonally use memorex dvd+r. a lil pricey but better than 50 bucks and VERY depenadable for dvd movies or games.
