I run into the same prob every time I install XP Fresh. This sounds simple, but it seems to work it self out after time?

are you plugging the cable into the PC or into the router?
It should be going to the router.
It could also be that you may need to enable Network Sharing on you PC connection

that is kind of odd. Not sure why unless your ISP sets up time limits for inactivity or something. Although i would not really consider gaming online as inactivity they may have other factors that determine that. I knew people who had an ISP like that and when they would try downloading large files that took time it would always cut them off if they did not come back every 15-20 minutes and browse to a webpage.
Or possible something in the modem settings.

This is what is happening to me. I've Got a wireless pci card that I connect to the internet with and a crossover cable connected to my ethernet port and X Box for FTP. I don't ever play X BoX live. The problem is I can only have one adapter enabled at a time. If I want to connect to my X Box I disable the wireless adapter and enable the j45 ethernet adapter, and when I want to surf the net or visit afterdawn I disable the j45 ethernet adapter and enable my wireless adapter.

I don't quite understand why it will only do one at a time, because before I reinstalled XP I could have both adapters enabled and connect to the internet, and my X Box at the same time. I reinstall XP every month or so and by that time I swear it's sorted itself out. Strange, if you ask me. Anyway I'm open to any suggestions, and hope this might help someone?
