I softmodded my xbox and the softmod works, but a folder on my C: drive was lost. It's the one called "xodash" and I can't copy it because it seems that I don't have write access to my C: drive. Unfortunately I have a Thomson DVD drive and all the cds and dvds I've tried to burn aren't recognized by my xbox. How else can I be granted write access to my C: drive, or is it not even supposed to be write-protected in the first place?
If you have a home network or if you dont then get a crossover cable , ftp your xbox and viola there you go .
Logging into the Xbox via FTP doesn't help, the hard disk is still write protected. The problem I'm having is I'm running UnleashX as the boot dashboard, and when I run EvoX, it works, but due to a write protection on the C drive I can't backup my eeprom. Any tips?
What type of softmod are you using ? Do you have a virtual C drive ? if so that would explain the write protection . If you have a virtual C drive you need to get into where you can see everything on your hd .
Ah, Yes, I believe it's a virtual drive C: thus being my problem. I soft modded using the hotswap method and xboxhd maker. I'm going to see about using the 007:save game exploit and find if that might give me the option to back-up my eeprom.bin and go from there. This has been something of a learning experience from the ground up.
Do you have Evolution X on your xbox ? If so you can go to system then backup to make a new backup of your eeprom.bin .
Do you have an autoinstaller deluxe 4.41 ? If so then you can pop that in and it will let you ftp without write protection .
Wow, so, this came out as a total fluke... I was working on late last night after the gym and I'm of the understanding there isn't much more I'll be able to do until I get a copy of 007 or something to save-file-mod it. I decide to change the booting dashboard XBMC and that'll be it for the night. All goes well, and off to bed. This morning as I'm putting it back together and boot it up, huh? Back to UnleashX? And it's totally not the same menu options as before. What happened? Aparently, the xboxdash.xbe file 'went missing' in E:\DASH\ and reverted to another dashboard. Taking a gamble, I decide to run Evox and backup from there. It worked! I don't know how, but now I've got the eeprom.bin and everything that goes with it. My dumb luck.
Nicely.. stick with evox for the dash on softmods.. xbmc isn't stable enough.. and is wide open to the internet for rss feeds... and believe.. there is malware about for the xbox.
