i have softmodded my xbox with sid 4.5 auto installer and splinter cell save so i now have, c: ms dashboard d: dvd drive e: evox i have also made my xbox slim and my problem is that i need to be able to boot xbox without dvd drive connected becuase it wont fit, but i need to be able to use the dvd drive externaly in the future to copy stuff to the hard drive dont no much about it, but i think it is something to do with either the bios (dvd drive check or something) or, the dashboard it boots to first any help very apreciated
I have no idea why you are doing what your doing? Making it look slim is cool and all that but you can not just leave it without a DVD drive. Also it may create some heat issues and cause problems. only way i can think of to hook it up externally is to customize the case so that the IDE cable that goes from the motherboard to the DVD drive is positioned on the outside of the case, like a controller plug in would be. Then you could just plug up the drive. Or possibly cut a slot like the the letter L sideways ____________ ------------ ! ! ! bottom of your case then you could slide the ribbon part of the IDE up from the bottom and into the top slot. It would be big enough for the ribbon to slide inn and out, but not the plug on the end of the IDE cable, So one assembled you could pull some IDE ribbon through, hook up your DVD drive and then when you done feed the extra IDE ribbon back into the inside of the machine leaving just the small plug on the back.
