I know this will be kinda old, and there's lots of topics regarding of surreal and xbox already, but I still have not found an answer to my problem.

I have Surreal 64 xxx5. I can load the emulator and my roms show up, but when I go to launch them all I get is "Loading Rom". I'm launching the emu from XMBC. Also my Xbox is softmodded.

    Thanks

wipe it off xbox and clear cache and if that doesnt work redownload from a google found site or xbins(go to xboxemu.com if u want to know what xbins is)

xbmc as a dash takes a lot of ram, and contains a few tsr's.. which is why people always have problems running surreal64 from it where launching from evox (which exits cleanly) gives no problems.

People keep asking the same old questions about it... and it's problems are mostly down to lack of ram.... It's borderline whether a game is going to play at all, and most that load will stutter and be a pretty poor experience.. Far better to use the n64 emulators on a pc with plenty of overhead.

umm, i dont know about that, ive got about 3 gig of stuff on my box, including surreal and xbmc is my dash too, but for me, everything runs very smoothly, try downgrading to an older version of xbmc(google T3CH)

For any xboxes used for gaming i use a dash other than XBMC as the main dash, any xboxes used mainly for movies/music i use XBMC as the main dash.
