    I currently own a PS2
Is the XBOX superior enough to get rid of the PS2 and switch to the XBOX ?

With the proper modification can you use the XBOX as a PC (internet browsing, word processing )?

yes, you can use the xbox as a pc if you'd like. It's not uber powerful as a pc, but it does run linux pretty well.
There is also the hd loader that was recently released for the ps2, though. No mod chip needed. Just install the software from the disc, install the network adapter w/ hd, and your all set to play backups from disc.
I'd get (and keep) both systems if I were you.

Are you not aware that the PS2 has a larger library of games?

you can run windows 98 on a xbox, if you plan on doing this i suggest you buy a DREAM X(an xbox with a CPU upgrade)

    thanks for the info.
Regarding the size of the game library, its true that the ps2 has a bigger one. But if you look only at exclusive title the xbox is starting to have the advantage over the ps2 (halo 1-2, star wars kotor, full spectrum warrior) and game on both console are starting to look a little better on the xbox too

Having both systems myself, I'd recommend keeping the PS2 and getting an X-box. You can go to Gamestop and get a new one for $149 or a used one with a warranty for $119. I believe that the X-box has more "potential" especially online play. Your opponents have to have broadband. Where Sony can have people using dialup, which ruins some of the game play online. There are games that are only on Sony that are worth having in any library, Syphon Filter, and the upcoming Grand Turismo 4.
