I too have noticed that you can exceed the max writing capabilities on a CD-R. What is the MOST MBs (For an avi or mpeg file on a data cd) u can put on a 700MB CD-R, without utilizing XCD?? And are there any penalties for exceeding 700MB?

    1) You dont need to use XCD for MPEGs, since they mostly are SVCD video streams, and SVCD (like XCD) is mode 2 and can take 800 megs of data.

    2) XCD has no error correction data, so it is risky.
