    Hi There,
I bought an Xecutor 2.2 PRO last week, and installed it. I am slightly wary about my soldering, because i am a n00b at soldering and Xbox modding. Anyway, I have not been able to get a new Bios on there, and i've tried everything i can think of. I am still sitting around with some junk Cromwell bios that just says "Please insert CD with BIOS update..." And will not do any thing else.

I have a Samsung drive in my xbox.

I have burned 1mb bios' on CD-RW and CD-R, but can't get to a DVD burner. I also put about 200 megs of crap on the CD in a folder called “Junk”, with just a bios.bin file in the root directory.

Every once in a while, after i've just tried to flash the bios, the Xbox won't boot normally, the light goes green, and it power cycles about 3 or 4 times, and then comes on and flashes red and green at me. I can't even eject the CD. I fix it by booting into the M$ Dash and ejecting the CD, and giving the box a few seconds to chill out.

I have tried X2BM to make 1MB images out of several bios's, and burned those to CDs and CDRWs. They usually error out, saying "No bios found, halting", but sometimes the Xbox just spits the CD back out and asks for another cd.

I tried parallel port cable today - the cable i used is about 2' long, for a ZIP drive. Neither my laptop nor my desktop, using X2BM, would be able to find an Xecutor on the other end. When i clicked "Info", it would just say "No xecutor found".

See, I don't know where to continue with this. I feel like i've exhausted all the possibilities. I am probably going to go buy a better parallel cable and try again tomorrow.

Does anyone else have suggestions for me? Could i have screwed up the chip? M$ dash still boots normally when i turn off the chip, and i can still play normal games.

    Thank you!

Ugh....I am just a newbie and everything...but did you check to make sure that the Chip is "connected" fully. Also check your D0 because that is what would make the Microsoft Boot Screen load up.

i went on IRC and asked some questions.... Turns out the BIOS programmers work best when you plug them DIRECTLY into the back of your computer. Take the top off the Xbox, take the programmer and hook it up, and hook it directly into your parallel port on the computer w/o any parallel cable in between. I did this and it detected my Xecuter chip. good luck.
