total star works like a charm, i have been tearing my hair out for the last few weeks and reeding post after post and was getting constant failures ive burned skyrim 6 times now all failed. just followed your tut and it burned perfectly im using arita but media code is the same as memorex

    ritek s04-66
    pi avg is 28.99
    pif avg is 0.63

pi and pif do spike at the layer break pi to 150 pif to 9 also pi spikes to 300 at the edge of the disk but i dont play live so i dont care. i also don't believe that pi and pif have anything to-do with live bans but that just my opinion

thanks again for an excellent tut :0)

i did this with very good success, have done 5 memorex with all verified

Download the "SMART-BURN Media Check Program for Optical Storage Products " .
Use this utilities to enable the below 2 functions:
"Force Hyper Tuning" & "Online Hyper Tuning"

Now give it a try on your Non Verbs disk on burning. Don't forget to disable these two function when using Verbs disk .

Good to hear that this guide is still helping people burn their XGD3 images on cheaper media. To date, other than reliability, concerns about detectability by Microsoft between high quality and low quality media burns have been a non-issue...and hopefully, continues to be.

I get pretty good results on Ritek and Aone discs using the tutorial. I'm starting to not care about xbox live any more myself now I'm happy enough to have a working xbox and some good games that work to play on it.

For me Verbatims work fine, but I get crappy results every single time with Memorex (RITEK S04-066) no matter how I tweak the settings (about 20 burns so far). I would love to be able to use these Memorex discs because I've got about 550 of them.

Hey MRGREASER you are the man! I did explore a few different options, But I finally got it to work following EVERYTHING you said, EXCEPT I unchecked verify because the verify would keep failing at 50 percent not the game the verify. Anyhow memorex media 1has124 flashed with c4evas code plus rincon oo.o1 data. THANKS!

A little late, but I can confirm this method works flawlessly on my TDK Ritek S04-66 discs burning the newest XGD3 games to use on iXtreme LT3.0+.

Since this still seems to be pretty recent, just thought I'd post and say thanks. I have an iHAS124B and I tried 2 different burns using the same media. The first was before following your guide, and resulted in a coaster. The second burn came out good and had very small PI/PIF deviations from the recommended. Thanks for making this guide, as it helped me a lot.

@adrian1747: I have the same discs as you, and I used the RICOHJPN D00-001 2.4 as the replacement for the original MBIPG slot. Turned out pretty well.

@ThatOneGuy: If I'm understanding what's happening when you follow this guide, what ends up happening is you are replacing the firmware's burn speed for your disc id and it forces it to burn at 2.4x speed. My media was marked as 4x, 6x, and 8x in the unmodified firmware, and would not accept any speeds but those. After editing the firmware, my discs burn at 2.4x and don't give me an XGD3 coaster.

    Thanks !!!
I tried to burn Dragons Dogma using cheap media with this method and it's installed and verified 100% !

I had wasted 2 verbatims, none worked..But now, i dont need them....Ritek media is enough and working flawlessly...

    Great tutorial !

I burned the new ghost recon future soldier on a verbatim disk and it wouldn't play in a hitachi. I tried it and it worked in a benq so i made a new copy on an aone disc and it works perfect in the hitachi :)

I signed up to thank you MrGreaser and thanks for your tutorial very clear to understand and you saved me from hopefully making another coster i have made 2 so far.

Imgburn finally finalised the disc properly and verified it running it in kprobe 2 now im wondering why when i ran it through abgx 1.06 it came up saying it was 93.30 or something pacent used isnt it ment to say 100%.

Here are my specs just incase its spec related.

Motherboard = Asus M5A99X EVO - has UEFI and had to set my bios to use IDE mode.
    CPU = AMD Phenom 2 x965 BE
    Ram = 2x Kingston 2gig @1333 mhz ddr 3
Graphics card = Sapphire ATI HD 5850
Hard Drive = 1x Western Digital Cavier Green 3TB Sata 3
    Power Supply = Coolermaster gx750
DVD Drives = 1 Pioneer and 1 Lite On IHAS324-32B with burner max
    Case Coolermaster CM690

I want to stress to everyone that you should back up every single drive you have because i have recently stupidly flashed the wrong drive i have stuffed my Asus BW-12B1LT blu ray burner that cost me NZD $500.00 so be extremely careful best to back everything up am waiting for my drive to be sent back to Asus hopefully reflashed or a replacement from my store.

Im sorry if this seems like a Double post i have left time for others to post as its now the next day.

I followed this tutorial and got these results.

    Model : 2-0-1-0 F:ATAPI iHAS324 B AL1B
Disc : NO MEDIA , No disc media was actually Ritek same used in this tutorial
Speed : Max actually had it set to x4.0
    Scanned range : 0:2:0 (0) - 4267018
    C1 Max = 208 , Average = 55.82 , Total= 1750035
    C2 Max = 19 , Average = 0.92 , Total = 28866

I really dont get why after using imgburn it says theres not media and says the speed is max also there is no light flashing on the drive but i know its reading it as i can hear it.
