I want to format my PC old school style and wipe it totally clean so when I start all I have is the MS DOS prompt.

Is my XP disk bootable from DOS or will I still need to make a boot disk before I format?

Can anyone point to a refresher couarse on formatting so I do not mess up?

its bootable don't worry. except if you dont mean hdd by the expression "disk". after formatting your hdd you wont have nothing on it. you'll need bootable xp cd. when you're done wiping your hdd you just insert bootable cd in your computer and i assume you know the rest.

    THX for the help.

I just changed my bios so it boots with the CD before the floppy. I do not have a CD ROM, just a DVD, will this be a problem?
