I just bought an xploder v5, but i was sad to find out that it cannot play back ups of games (they are dvd-r games). is there a way to get back ups to play, or am i stuffed? if i am stuffed, then is it worth me buying an AR Max (will AR Max play back ups?)
xp5 has auto detection on games plus its auto eject feature prevents you to play dvdrs ar max has also auto detect but it dosent have auto eject feature i would defeinatly go for ar max
Unless you get a modchip, or a device like swapmagic, then you won't be able to play backups, cause ar max doesn't play backups on it's own either. (i do take it you mean you want to use the cheat device as a means to get the backups to play, if not, then just ignore this post )
oh yeah i should have mentioned that i have a mod chip (someone else put it in so in dont know anything about it, except that its pretty dodgy). I dont need it for playing dvd-r games to work, just to use cheats on them
thanks for the advice! unfortunately, the method described in that thread requires a slide tool or flip top as well as a swap magic, and i dont have any of that.
You could also try getting yourself a more recent/decent mod, worked like a charm for me. i got my V3 back today after having a new fan, laser and modchip installed, and now it works just fine,with both my ar max and codebreaker, even on imported games and backups (although i need to imput different codes for the imports) hope this info is helpfull.
Ok thanks for the advice. getting mod chips installed is fairly cheap in Australia now so i might get a newer mod and laser. I just had a though. i've still got my old Action replay 2 v2 as well as my dvd region X. is it possible to boot xploder v5 and select my codes, then instead of putting in my back-up, put in either AR2v2 or DVD region X. then i could use that to boot my back-up. is this possible? Oh yeah and what about DVD Loader v7? could that help me at all? EDIT: i tried using my ar2v2 with xploder v5 to boot a back up but it didn't work. first i boooted my xploder v5 and selected my codes, then instead of putting in my back-up, i put in my AR2v2. then i selected 'start game', then 'without codes'. it seemed to boot up OK but after i put in the game and hit X, the AR2 screen disappears and the game never loads (just stays on black screen). does anyone know something i can do to make it work? ANOTHER EDIT: I tried the same thing i described above, except with DVD Region X and it worked! but for some reason, it rarely ever loads. Pretty much all the time, after i switch the DVD Region X for the back-up, the screen stays black. i don't think its the codes, but it may be. i'll try it with some other codes and hopefully it will work. does anyone know a reason why it wouldn't work?
