Hello, I am a bit of newbie in DVD coding land ; ) but I am trying to code xvid AVI movies to DVD format so I can watch them on my TV. Currently I am using Nero Vision Express 2, and this does the job for most movies. However I have some movies who playback Ok with FFDshow / ms-MP, but do not code OK onto DVD, since I my audio is out of sync. Now switched to TMPGEnc and Virtualsub, but both these programs seem to have problems with the Xvid avi format. (file is xvid coded with MP3 2 channel audio) TMPGenc does not recognize the file format, and Virtualsub can not work with FFDshow and needs an VFW xvid codec. Does this sound familiar to anyone ? Can somebody please help me resolve these problems ?
Well You Just need to install the XviD codec and configure FFDshow to use the XviD Codec to decode the Format...Tmpgenc should Load XviD files without a problem but it does have Problems encodeing them to Mpeg as it has a Tendancy to error out...I find it is Best to frameserve XviD files from Virtual-Dub to Tmpgenc...And you have to realize Not all AVI files can be Put on DVD By simply encodeing it to the correct mpeg format...You can not use Tmpgenc to encode Pal files to NTSC or NTSC Files to Pal because Tmpgenc does not do proper Frame Rate conversions and if you try you will get Sync Problems and Jumpy Playback...So take this into accound when you choose what files you want to put on DVD ,Make sure they have the Correct frame rate for the region you live, If they don"t you will have to find another Method for converting them to the correct frame rate......Cheers PS: Nero vision express is the worst program ever created and it would be wize to stay away from it...
