Hi.... Can someone please help. I have just bought an Archos 604 Multimedia player. I have many Xvid and Divx files on my p.c (at various resolutions) and wish to put them onto the Archos. But the resolution of the Archos screen is 480x272....when I put the files onto it from p.c, it cuts off some of the top and the bottom on the Archos screen? I'm assuming it's because the res of the original files on the p.c is not 480x272,some are higher and some lower. Question is ....What is the best software to use, to re-size the resolution of Xvid and Divx files to 480x272....? So that I can view the files in full screen on the Archos. Thanks for any info.
Between null transform and rotate. That's without any 3rd party filters interfering. Personally I don't recommend using VDub to resize since it means a RGB24 colourspace conversion. This slows down encoding and reduces quality. If you use AVISynth for resizing, then you can keep the entire process in YV12. If you wanted to encode lots of files then you would probably be better off with something like mencoder, since it is easier to batch process.
Thanks....do both of the progs you mention take care of the audio as well,again with no loss of quality,and no audio/video sync problems? Also will Dr divx do the same? Thanks.
AVISynth always decodes audio, so you would need to process (demux, remux) it seperatly. In mencoder you can just use -oac copy to keep the audio. Dr. DivX 2 as I understand it is ffmpeg based which would make it -acodec copy to keep the audio.
It's not possible to change resolution without re-converting the files. For this task you may also try spam
