Ive got an xvid film of a friend first time ive played one and the picture is shit is this the usally norm got the codec to play it in windows media player am i doing somthing wrong ??
XviD is basically just a tool, the quality can be great or it can be shit. Just depends on how you use it, also the other tools you use and the materials you have to work with. If you have a bad quality source then the XviD encoded version is not going to look any better. If you encode at full DVD res with a 100kbit bitrate then it is going to look like crap to. Could also be a playback issue as you say though. Can you post a screen shot?
