xvid questions

    I'm confused, is xvid the same as divx, and is xvid a type of avi?? I need some claification on this. thanks in advance.

    xvid is a further version of divx, no not a type of avi

    thanks for the response. I have lord of the rings, 2 towers in xvid format. I have searched various forums, but would like to know what is the best and fastest way to re-encode this to mpeg2 to burn to dvd+r.

    There are so many different programs and ways of doing this, I have had no luck with v-dub and tmpgenc. (probably doing something wrong) Could someone please point me in the right direction. thanks.
