Well I have a couple of dvds that I want to back up into Xvid format. Now I know there are lots of software that does it, I don't want to have to pay for those commercial software? Is there any open source software that converts dvd to divx formats, more specifically Xvid. I really like the Xvid format. Sorry for having the same question that you guys have answered many times, just want something that's open source. Thanks.
I tried out the autoGK (Gordian Knot) program the other day to convert some of my DVD's and the results were excellent. It is very easy to use and supports XviD and DivX 5, as well as direct AC3/6 and /2. I converted both a standard movie and several animated episodes, and it was the best results I have ever recieved for the animated conversions. The best thing, it only took me about a minute to set everything up for the conversion where it usually takes me 15-20 min to set-up the manual GK. On top of that, in that minute I set-up a batch mode for 7 episodes and just left my computer for a couple hours. When I came back, everything was done and the results were great. AWDriven.
