Does anyone know if a 2.5mm to 2x3.5mm Y-splitter can be used with a 360 controller to connect a "normal" pc-chat-headset? Has anyone here ever tried this?

i havent tried that, ubt i have used the xbox 360 headset on my pc before, with a similiar idea, except from 2.5mm to 3.5mm. it worked just fine. i cant imagine they would be specific to the xbox 360, as they appear to be a fairly simple headset. i know you can get these adapters at places like radioshack for a few dollars, would prolly be worth a try.

that wont work. you need something that is directly wired to the mic line in and something that is directly wired to speaker line out. that is two line outs running from a single line out. i would order what bhetrick is showing because im almost certain that thing would work, where the thing you have im almost certain it wont work.
