I was having problems very similar to the ones you have mentioned. Ripping with DVD Decrypter, with AnyDVD running, and burning with CloneDVD2 provided a successful backup.
This error can often be caused by a bad disc. Dirty, scratched, or just a bad press. Try ripping to the HD with DVDFab (this program will often get hard discs) before using shrink and see if that gets it for you.
Hey ajc123, I see your still have a problem with this flick. This applies to backing up Madasgascar. Clean the DVD and try this, as it may do the trick (print it out first): get VobBlanker (free) at: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm 1) Create a new folder on your desktop and name it "Blanked_files" then a sub folder within it called "RIPPED", this folder will contain the processed files by VobBlanker. 2) Put in your DVD and then Run VobBlanker, you are going to be using it with the original DVD first. For input folder selection, browse to the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD, in the folder highlight the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and press ok. For output folder selection, browse to the "RIPPED" sub-folder you created and press ok. 3) VobBlanker selections: In the Title Set section (upper portion) of VobBlanker find and highlight the VTS_08*.VOB file, this will cause all the associated PGCs in the selected title set to be displayed (lower section). Under PGC# you should see entry 01 thru 05, entry 01 is the valid entry(it should have the largest file size and duration), the others are the ones causing the problem and need to be blanked. Highlight entry 02 and then press the blank button on the right, do the same for entry 03, 04, and 05. Now all you have to do is press PROCESS!! and wait until VobBlanker is done. The newly created processed files should now be stored in the RIPPED sub-folder. Close vobBlanker 4) Rename the "RIPPED" folder to VIDEO_TS, run dvddecrypter in file mode (whole movie rip). For input folder browse to the VIDEO_TS sub-folder containing the processed files by vobBlanker, decrypter should create a default location for the output selection containing a VIDEO_TS folder which it will dump the files in (you may of changed this so take note of where decrypter will put them). Once complete you should have all the files stored in a folder that should also be called VIDEO_TS. 5) Run dvdshrink and open the files created by dvddecrypter, use shrink as you have been instructed.
Hi, the problem i am having is getting shrink files to reduce the ripped files. I have now followed the instructions to the letter several times and still can't do this one. Have tried a different disc to copy and that worked ok although this was less than 4.7 GB. May try to re-download shrink and see if that makes a difference. Spent a few hours on it now and don't want to be beaten. Anyone, any more ideas as to what it could be.Shrink has been coming up with * invalid access to memory * Maybe there is a default that i need to alter ? ajc123
So you're still having a problem with shrink opening the files??? Try using the latest version of DVDFab, some issues with it have been resolved. version 2.9.6.6 (12/28/2005) - Change: Improved copying engine, hopefully you don't need to post-process with VobBlanker or FixVTS anymore. - Change: Fixed DVD Shrink "Out of memory" error when copying some new released DVDs, like "Valiant" (US). get it here: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm Try opening the files with shrink after being processed by DVDFab. If this still won't solve the problem, I'll describe the third method I tied and worked.
Hi all, I am using the latest version of DVDFab. Here's a few things i have tried. Downloaded shrink again,in shrink cannot open files unless i reauthor, and when i drag the main movie file it starts to encrypt the afte 1 or 2 seconds up comes the *memory acces*. In Nero, if i go into 'Burn Video files' and open ripped DVD files they all come up ok. Then i have tried to drag the VTS-08-1,2,3 vob files and burn them this way. Can this be done this way and is the VTS-08 files the correct ones to burn. When went to burn these files in nero came up with error *Failed Compliance test* Can it be done? Getting a bit peeved now but learning my way around the different programs a bit better. Any ideas Thanks ajc123
hey ajc123, still no luck? If you're willing to try a method I also tried and worked here we go, it requires the use of another application that's like dvdshrink, it's called shrinkto5. goto.. http://www.shrinkto5.com/default.asp here you can read alittle about it. to get it goto.... http://www.shrinkto5.com/software.asp Download and install it along with the machinist.dll file needed for decryption, get it here... riphelp.com/downloads/shrinkto5.html The machinist.dll file needs to be put in the software folder that the shrinkto5 installation creates. xx:\program files\shrinkto5\software Now rip the movie with dvddecrypter in file mode (whole movie), once done open the files using shrinkto5. You can view the movie only tour for visual animated instructions. Once done it produces an output folder (VIDEO_TS) in the location you chose that can be burned with Nero using the DVD-Video application. You can also open the files with DVDshrink and use it. Here is your guide for burning with nero: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/40/59/ The program is very easy to use and worked for me.
ajc123, I was having the same problems until just now... this is what worked for me, courtesy of aabbccdd: To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated per Olli ->OF SLYSOFT AND CLONEDVD Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes" General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection" so, uninstall anydvd and reinstall to get it to work again, and do that if you haven't solved it yet.
Bloody Miracle. Tried all the above, with no success. Last attempt, tried shrink 3.2 again and it worked. Thanks to all of you who took the time to try and help. ajc123
