i was having trouble like pretty much everyone else. with the fog dvd shrink wouldnt even open! it said invalid dvd structure. so i tried all these other programs and stuff and nothing worked. So now i have found the way that by far is the easiest! Go download DVD REGION CSS+FREE THE LATEST VERSION.. run in in the background with shrink and the movies will work just fine. i have done them both now and absoloutly no problems what so ever. It is by far the easiest steps. then burn with nero as ISO image file. laters. G
You can dl a trial of this program here, however after the trial it is a pay program just like AnyDVD http://www.dvdidle.com/
Thank you very much. If this works on all dvds it would be worth the purcahse. I am tired of bouncing around to find something different everytime sony changes their encryption. Again thank you for your immediate response!!!!!!!! Don
http://www.cdr-zone.com/software/dvd_region_free/ or http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm I use AnyDVD, which works like DVD43, or this program. It is a paid for program, but it works on EVERYTHING, in the background. Updates handle anything new the pinheads try. I like to try the free program methods just to see if they work, and how much harder it is to get a good copy. I only turn off AnyDVD when i want to try the free program cracking methods. It is well worth the money i paid for it, and i didn't even get the AD discount they were running after i got the program. The choice is pay for a program that takes care of everything, or find out what the latest tricks are needed for doing it the free way. Right now VOB Blanker is taking care of the arrcos and ripguard for the free side. DVD43 would probably also work as they recently updated it to handle arrcos. AnyDVD seems to get right on the latest anti-copy attempts. It and DVD Fab Decrypter are the only two that stay right on top of the latest problems.
I have anydvd. I had one hell of a time with flightplan. is there a setting or something i need to change when i have problems, with the anydvd program? The only way i could figure out to back up this movie was to use the voblanker program & then use shrink. It turned out to be quite time consuming to back up this movie. Dude @ the top of this thread was talking about changing the css key or something like that. Can i do this with anydvd so i don't have these problems. Thank God voblanker came to the rescue on this flick. Thanks in advance
EricFresh, It is not surprising that DVD Region CSS+free works well, it is authored by fengtao, the author of DVDFab Decrypter as well.
seadale, I don't have AnyDvd so I can't answer you about setting adjustments on that program. However, EricFresh was talking about using a program called DVD REGION CSS+FREE, not css key.
seadale, When i used AnyDVD 5.8.3.1, it worked perfectly on this. I have had one instance where AnyDVD was stopped, and that was on Lords of Dogtown. AnyDVD came out with an update a couple of days later, and that worked. Make sure you have the latest version from slysoft. VOB Blanker will take care of all of the latest anti-copy stuff. I didn't see the top poster saying change the css key, just listing the program DVD REGION CSS+FREE . CSS stand for Content Scrambling System. It is just the encryption all DVDs apply and is what anydvd, dvd43 and that program crack. They also try to take care of the arrcoos and ripguard things, but not all keep up as well as others. VOB Blanker has worked on EVERYTHING they have come up with so far. Yes, it is an added step, and adds a little extra time (5-10 mins) to the normal rip process, but it WORKS, and it is FREE. Two good things in my book. And with VOB blanker you don't need AnyDVD, DVD43, DVD REGION CSS+FREE, or any other paid for program. All you need is a ripper like DVD Fab Decrypter, or DVD Decrypter, VOB Blanker, and a shrinking/burning program like DVD Shrink, or Nero recode/burning rom. Slysoft also has excellent customer support. Next time you have a problem just email them, and they will probably give you some help.
Thanks maxburn, I guess i misunderstood. I thought some people were getting this movie done with dycrpter, shrink, & anydvd without having to also use voblanker. This caused me to beleive mabe i had a setting wrong with my anydvd program. thanks again for your input!
I used anydvd running in the background, reauthored in shrink, and burned with decrypter. Movie only...no change in settings...flawless backup...encryption broken in about 2 seconds.
seadale, I hate to confuse you, but YES, the latest version of AnyDVD will get flightplan without using VOB Blanker. I don't think it is a setting wrong thing in your case, maybe it is a bad download and install of current version, or you don't have the current version, or didn't when you tried the movie. 5.8.3.1 is the current version of AnyDVD. I actually got it done with AnyDVD running in the background, and just opened the disc with DVD Shrink, and processed/burned as normal. Didn't even use Decrypter for that. I only used the VOB Blanker method to see if i could get it WITHOUT using AnyDVD. For me it worked both ways. But let me check my anydvd and see if there are any settings you could check. If you right click on the red fox select "settings" and under the DVD tab make sure all the boxes are checked under the "feature Removal" section. The last one is [bold]"copy protection based on unreadable sectors".[/bold] Make sure that one is checked, as that is where AnyDVD takes care of this problem for you in the background. Under the Program tab, put a check on "automatically check for new AnyDVD version", and it will do the update checking for you when connected to the net. Also you can right click on any feature, and a screen will pop up with "what is this?" as one option. Click on it, and the help text will tell you what each thing is for and does.
Did both Flightplan and The Fog with just AnyDVD running in background, then Shrink to re-author followed by burn iso with Decryptor. No problems at all! Worked in record time!
thanks max, checked my settings everything was as you said. I must of just screwed up somewhere. Really appreciated all the help
You may have a bad press on the original disc, and the only thing to do in that case is take it back and exchange it. I had that happen to me on one movie. Nothing i did could get past what looked like a bad sector, but the disc was virgin, not a single thing wrong with it by looking at it. Exchanged it, and everything worked fine. I like to watch the copies, and keep the originals in a safe place as the master disc.
Did The Fog complete disc with DVDFab 2.9.7.0 Beta4 which you can get here http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=164364 And used DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15.Without any problems Enjoy !!!
