    I think I will get a WII .. I can't decide though ...

on the one hand its cheap ..and at 22 I dont want to invest allot of money in gaming ...

mostly I will use whatever system I get when i am stoned looking for something fun to occupy time but I kinda hate being left out of the whole GTA option...

    Pros
    comes with games
    the controller.
    The size(small).
fun of playing with family members and Friends.
The price (cheaper then the rest)
The backward compatibility with GC games
    Virtual Console Games

    Cons
Cant play DVD's (yet) or audio cds
Doesnt come with wireless sensor bar
NEEDS wireless nun-chuck( the cord hits me or gets tangled )
    NEEDS a REAL Mario game.
Need the "zapper" holder for the wiimote

Note: most of my cons dont deal directly with the Wii its self

I gree that the fact it can't play dvd's is a bit of a setback.

I think every single thing in your con list will be acknowledged by Nintendo within the next few years.
-DVD enabled Wii is coming to Japan. US waiting on confirmation.
-Already 3rd party wireless sensor bars, and knowing Nintendo has a tendency to re-release updated hardware, it's almost a given that there will be a first party wireless sensor bar.
    -Same thing with nunchuk
-Mario Galaxy to be released in 2007

As for the zapper, it's probably only a matter of time. Unless it is one of those showcased prototypes that never made it.
But really, it is only necessary for a couple types of games. If those games come out, the zapper should too.

Mario 64 is considered to be the best 3D Mario game. (Also cited as laying a lot of groundwork for subsequent 3d platformers on any console)
I strongly suggest you try it.

And post your review in the future if you can. I'm curious as to what you think of it, 2007 being the year you first played it.

Despite having it on the N64,and having played the game hours upon hours,I once again downloaded it for my Wii and loved it once again.

It's an exciting and very complete game with endless secret passages and hidden maps to discover.
Super Mario 64 was the first 3D game of the Mario games. The game was so revolutionary that all the other games of its category were modeled from it.Super mario is known as one of the best games ever, even today.

Remember that to play it you will need the Wii classic controller:

It's pretty much impossible to be disappointed with this game as it is so complete,it drove initial sales of the Nintendo 64, and has sold over 12 million copies in total.

Mario 64 is very good on the N64. If the Wii VC one is just like it you wont be disappointed. I know most of the cons are easily addressed. Also can it play MP3 cds?

No media playback from discs. Which is a shame. Many users would love to just pop an MP3 DVD disc in and let it run, but no such luck.

Great games though; I'm just waiting for the next big wave, which won't really be until this fall. In the meantime, I'm still working on Trauma Center; and I'm planning to put some time in on Rayman Raving Rabbids, and WarioWare Smooth Moves.

I have a feeling that in the next couple of months we'll be able to play dvd's and play music. people are trying to hack the wii and change the firmware...

alright you could label me as a PS2 fanboy (but i'm not!) because i've owned both the PSX/PS2 since the days of Super Nintendo/Genesis/TG-16. Only Nintendo console in my house since then has been a GBA & DS.

The Wii does have definite advantages over the PS3/360. Foremost being the price. Even though Blu-ray for $600 isn't that bad the economy is just not right for it. If things were better, i think the sales would be much higher. That price wouldn't look so bad. But for what it's worth, its not about the value its about the $$$

As for 360, its more of a PC system in my eyes. Never got into the Xbox myself. Some of the games are great & the modding scene is strong. For some reason the system just doesn't appeal to me. Playing some 360 games i just feel the same. (Gears of War, Enchanted Arms & Madden being an exception). It's probably more about personal opinion about M$oft than anything else. For RPGs the 360 is fairing better than Xbox. MMORPG on 360 will always pwn the PS3/Wii. Xbox Live is a great online community & you could spend days on there without every playing a single game.

As far as graphics go, please don't get into a debate of pixels & polygons. When Sega brought out the Saturn (i still remember seeing that huge box @ToysRus on release day) it was supposed to be a Sony killer. Just because it could do more textures/faster processor than PSX. Only prob is they threw in a 2nd processor because the Sega boss heard his systems Mhz was slower than PSX & ordered the Saturn to be faster. Dumb move. Programming for the Saturn was total sh*t. Ask any programmer from that time; the Saturn was superior to PSX/N64 but the games were not as good. PS3 has that same problem; Cell processor has huge bandwith but programming for it is a pain in the butt. Dev costs are not the factor, its the programming. $ony seems to have rushed to market without the proper middleware. Only recently have they addressed this issue or even acknowledged it. In the end, its not going to matter how many gigaflops your system does if the games are not taking advantage of it. Virtua Fighter 5 is a perfect example. The fights seem kind of unreal in how the characters touch down after a move. Something just seems out of sync. Maybe its just me; I played Street Fighter II & know the dynamics of a fast fighing game. VF4 on PS2 doesn't have the probs it does on PS3.

The Wiimote = WIN. Just total win. All the different styles of gaming are made much more fun with that vs. the PS3/360 antiquated controller. Interaction with the game is left to your fingers & thumb instead of your entire hand. The Wiimote makes use of not only your hands but your arms & the rest of your body. I can't imagine playing a PS3 game & seeing people flail their arms around. What I see is someone sitting there almost not moving the controller & punching the buttons. The Wii forces you to move your body. It's fun. You can look like a 'tard & make the excuse that the game is forcing you to play that way.

And the thing that gamers forget is the whole wow factor of a game. I remember sitting down to FF6 on Super Nintendo & watching the opening. It blew me away. Yeah i'm old school like that. These days the kids are playing GTA & shooting hookers like there is nothing to it. I wish they had that back in my high school days LOL. In all seriousness, the wow factor is something that can't be described. Only so many games do that. Zelda for the Wii is one of those. Its part nostalgia & part technique. If future Wii games can continue that feeling, the system will stand head & shoulders above the PS3/360. In all honesty, i don't give a f*** about tEh graphics!!!1! posts i see on sites like gamefaqs & IGN. Good games shall not be defined by how many cutscenes they have or how big the female characters breasts are. Good games are not all polygons, gigaflops & terrabytes per second. Good games are not how many on screen characters there are. Or how many tears of sweat you can put on a character's face. Its not even about realistic muscle movement, skin deformation or dynamic shaders.

It's about fun. That's why the Wii is looking very good now compared to the competition. It's fun to play. That's all i care about. My time > graphics wh0re posts and fanboys

I'm still enjoying the titles I have for it; mostly in multiplayer, but it still sees plenty of use.
