My girlfriends computer was infected with this virus a few months ago. She had not installed an Anit-Virus program. (Thats what she gets for doing this while I'm out of town =P). When I got back, I installed Symantec and figured all was good, because the Explicit Popups and Desktop Icons had stopped. But now they have been replaced with a new IE Popup: "CiD: [Something Else]". I dotn know if this is related. She uses Firefox as her main browser, but when looking at her running processes in the Task manager, I ended an iexplorer.exe that took over 250,000k of Memory. When I noticed she had 86 running proceses I looked into it more and found loads of YUR****.exe proceses, which, it seems, are linked to the porn issue she had a few months ago. I will post a HijackThis! and ComboFix log as soon as they download on her PC. Edit: The PC is a Laptop running Vista.
No, I had not found that page before. I had found a few AfterDawn threads with the similar issue, but in none of them was the issue resolved (usually, the OP just stopped posting). Thank you, I will run the steps listed in that thread.
