Hi all, I'm hoping you can help me, I have a WD 2tb portable hard drive, it's full of movies, I have just plugged it into my laptop and I'm getting the error saying the USB was unrecognized, I have updated the driver details, and still no luck, I have checked windows updates and there isn't any updates, do you know what I can do to fix this? Thanks

Have you tried connecting something else into the USB connector to see if it is recognized?

desktop pc or laptop? is the wd portable still under warranty because if not then take the drive out of the enclosure & either put into another enclosure or direct connect internally to desktop computer to see if can still access info?

It's for a laptop, not under warranty, just don't want to lose all the files on it

take the drive out of it's current drive enclosure which could be bad & try it internally on another computer to see if works okay before buying another drive enclosure.
