Randomly over the past month id say my computer will crash and go to the blue screen and restart on its own. Sometimes it doesnt happen at all on the day, sometimes every 15 minutes or so. Running windows 7 64 bit version on a HP laptop Not really sure what else is needed to know to help me out. I can post the minidump files if that helps? Ive got 2 accounts on the computer, and it does it on both sides. What should I do? Thanks in advance

why do people turn off their system restore, it is there for a reason like this. save your info & reload windows.
hindsight helps develop good foresight... lol check your video card, run chkdsk to see if you have a dieing drive and run sfc /scannow... 2oG
Wow I can answer this People turn off the restore point because restore point creates new restores on the hard drive and doesnt remove the older restore point files so you end up with a bunch of worthless restore points taking up hard drive space. However for the error messages and the blue screen of death these are the key causes of the blue screen of death. 1. bad video card or out of date video card drivers remember windows 7 requires a direct x 9 compatible graphics card. 2. bad hard drive 3. bad ram 4. some process editing your registry
I didn't set a restore, I didn't turn it off. In then I decided to format. So far 4 days , no blue screen, so I guess it was a registry issue? Once I get all my programs back on , i will set the restore. Is there programs that are good to have from a clean/fresh install from the get go? Freeware? Spyware programs? Programs?
