ya i did the steps...i think the problem is that when i put the rt2500usb.sys file into the drivers folder, it asks me if i want to replace the existing file, and it shows the details of the old one and the one that im replacing it with, and it says that they are both 136kb and that they were both modified on the same date...something is wrong with that folder...ive tried downloading the file from all of the different sources but i keep having the same problem...any ideas??

    Hey all.

    So. I'm using windows 2000.
I got all the way to around step 7/8, and i'm stuck.

i'm using a DSL modem in which the IP is 192.168.0.1 (if you know how to change this, pls let me know. I tried changing it to something else, and the internet stops working.)

Any advice on where to go from there? I really don't want to take this connector back =\

Or if i could get a guide on how to set this up on windows 2000...

Here I've posted this setup a few times now just follow this and you shouldn't have a problem. Don't change your ip address just change the connector ip, here's the setup...

Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting

Click on Config on the left side.

    Basic Tab:

    Network Type:Infrastructure

    Network Name:default

    Channel : 1

    Encryption Tab:

    Network Authentication: Open

    Data Encrption: Disabled

    Soft AP Tab:

    Check The Soft AP Mode

    Check To Enable The ICS

    Access Control Tab:

    Access Control Policy: Accept

Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of course you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.

Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched. But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.

    RTS Threshold: 2347

    Fragmentation Threshold: 2347

    Preamble Mode: Long

    Frame Bursting: Disabled

    54g Mode: 802.11b only

    54g Protection: Auto

    Use Short Slot Time: Disabled

Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.

Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!

Any problems I'll try to help you figure it out.

I'll attempt that, But In the softAP tab under the ASUS control settings, there is no check box to enable ICS. (Its apparently a Windows XP only function.)

So now what do I do?

I think you should start over and make sure to read the steps and you shouldn't have a problem. As of your problem now I'm not sure where your at ? Remember if your not putting the files in the right folder its never going to work and also if you start again the first step is to remove the nintendo software. I think theirs a video of the steps somewhere as well

    Hi,

it's been working fine untill today. Sudenly when i get home to night the connectors not flashing (i noticed this because i wanted to connect my laptop). I thought o well, because it sometimes doesn't flash and it's not connected so i just unplug it and replug it and it works. But this time it was different. every time i restart my comp. i have 2 click on the asus wlan icon on my desktop 4 som reason 4 the wireless connection 2 not be disabled. it alwys keeps flashing when i havent enable the connection. when i unpluged it and repluged it the device wasn't reconised untill irebooted the comp. this has neva happened b4. now when i go into the asus wlan connection screen it has a magnifying glass circling round a little router like thing. all the past settings have been erased (ssid etc), i can't change it to soft ap mode and i can't get into mac adress filtering tab. also when i go into my network connections the nin wifi usb connection is disabled (wireless connection 7).
    Could ne 1 help plz?

Few ?'s Have you installed or removed any programs recently if so I would bet that this has something to do with it. I think if you go back and reinstall the drivers that it will solve the issue. Also you said that the light sometimes doesn't come on maybe you have a bad connection on the connector itself. As far as all your settings being erased again sounds like a driver issue. Sorry I can't help you more but thats what I would check first. Post your results and I'll try to help you more

well, the thing is, I tried to install every step and didn't got anything, maybe I have done something wrong, but what I want now is to go back to use the nintendo drivers, but I don't know what happened, everytime I try to install it iddentifies my usb as a network adapter and try to install some drivers, and then instead of installing the software it shows a network icon on the system tray, and the instalation says it got a software error and then I can't connect the usb hardware, I think something changed in the computer that makes it identify my usb connector as a network adapter and that'ts why it always get wrong, does anyone can help me?

Ok i install this on several CPU's and it's fine, then my computer's anti-virus software uninstalls it so then i install it the proper way and some error messages that i get are: internet connection sharing error (4), internet connection sharing (6), and even though it's inserted it comes up right at the end please insert the Nintendo wi-fi usb into your computers usb port. ok then after when i gave up i put it into a different computer, then it comes up the SSID changes cannot be applied! then i on the first computer i try installing it this way but it installs the wrong drivers (when it comes up this device has not passed windows logo testing and it tells you what you are installing it says installing Nintendo wi-fi usb connector not buffalo whatever). even if i click continue anyway it just installs it the original way. HELP ME I GET POKEMON DIAMOND VERY SOON!!!!!!!!
