hello, just wondering if anyone can help me, my DVD Rom drive just stopped reading any type of disc, it wont read anything CD, DVD, PC Game nothing. Can anyone help? Cheers danny2004
cheers for the reply and there is not yellow mark, it says that the drive is working as if it should be and its just not reading anything i put into it thanks for your help anyways
well ive got one of those cds that cleans it, but i wont read the disc so it doesnt work. I dont know how to get to the lens, im scared of damaging the computer, if i take it apart. Is it easy to do?
if you used a cd cleaner disk & no yellow exclamation mark in device manager, try removing drive from device manager, restart windows to let it install driver & see what happens. possible drive just gave up the ghost. how old is drive & if still under warranty
I had the same problem and fixed it by following this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060 I deleted the LowerFilters value in the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} good luck! Chris
My drive dissapeared again after a few days on a boot up. I had to restore my system to a previous date and now it seems stable. If you want to do that put in "system restore" in the "help and support" search and follow the wizard. Not a great solution but it seems to work. I also uninstalled a program for pulling pics from a digital camera that I had recently installed because I was getting an error message that indicated I had a corrupt driver and that was the last program I installed. good luck...
thanks for that but the DVD-Rom was no good and Sony came by my house and replace it, now this one reads at 16x.
