i've been ripping dvd's using mac the ripper, then to compress them under 4.3GB i have roxio popcorn. after compressing i'm left with a .toast file, and burn it through toast 6. i haven't been able to get a dvd to play yet using this method on my normal dvd player... does it have something to do with me buring a .toast file instead of using a VIDEO_TS file??

You should be able to burn the disc within popcorn, i.e. without using toast. That's the whole point, you can compress and burn in one sitting. I'd rip using mtr, select the VIDEO_TS folder in popcorn, then make sure your dvd is in your writer. That should do it.

If you want to compress the files separately, I'd use a different program than popcorn. Hope this helps.
