Has anyone noticed that this superdrive burns flaky DVDs more often than, for example, the Pioneer 108? I read somewhere that the 117, which is in my new G5 tower, is supposed to be the same thing as the 108. I have an external 108 and that one seems much more able to burn 8x blank media at 8x speed.

The 117 very consistently wants toast to burn at around half that, or else the movies don't play right. They hang repeatedly, especially toward the end of the movie. Same thing with RW media. I have to use 2x instead of 4x.
