Seeking a software that can make a complete copy of my DVD movies including menus, features and other things that are on the disc. The problem I have Mac O.S. 9.1. The type of computer I'm using right now is a G4 Dual 533MHZ with a external LACIE DVD Burner. Do I need to upgrade to New tiger software. Please tell me the best way I can make copy of my DVD movies

First, read media guru's "how to" page at the top of the forum, that has all the step by step info. the method that a lot of people use is the - mactheripper, dvd2one & toast combo. another is the mactheripper & popcorn method (some people think popcorn is the bees knees and some people think it has a few bugs other than bees in it)

as far as os9.1 goes, i have no clue. you may be able to do some sort of search for it but when it really comes down to it... how long are you going to be able to survive on os9.1? classic may work well in your own tiny environment, but when you try to step out side of it and get new software, take files to a printshop or whatever... the thing you'll notice is that the world has kept going and your stuck. i went from os8.6 to 10.3 and found that i really liked the X environment. it's A LOT more stable, i found easy to use and just made a lot more sense after you use it for a bit. md.

The only real app you can use is dvdextractor.9b. There's no compression software that I know of for OS9.

Get yourself a version of 10.3.9 (probably cheap on ebay now that tiger came out)

I agree about OS X. You can still use the vast majority of your OS 9 software in X, which will automatically start up OS 9 as 'Classic'. But you will then be able to use newer compressing and burning software (there's loads about - some you'll need to pay for). Try to get a copy of the Panther (OS 10.3) disks at this stage, rather than Tiger, where problems have yet to be ironed out. I use DVDExtractor to rip the CD. Then I use DVD Remaster (Google will find it) to compress files down to 4.7Gb and then I burn to DVD using Toast. Toast 5 is good if you can get it as it has installers for two versions - 9 and X. Update 10.3 to 10.3.9 in Sofware updater, and then update Java - then enjoy! The full DVD ripping nstructions in the guide at the top of this forum are very good. Have a browse!
