Made an AAccOS main feature extraction with mtr and wrote the disc with popcorn. The only way I could get the movie to start at the beginning was to forward to scene 2 and then hit reverse to get it back to the beginning. I have no doubt that just hitting play would have eventually worked, but the pause at the beginning is quite loooooong. Any ideas for eliminating this pause?

I tried ripping Hitch with DVDXcopy Pl. with no luck. I have ripped it with dvd decrypter and am now working on compressing it. Unable to shrink it with DVD Shrink, I keep getting an error. I'm new at this and need some help.

    Thanks. Gman.

Does the original uncompressed video_ts folder play in dvd player?

can you compress it with something OTHER than popcorn?

The movie is relatively small and required no compression.

Both the original and the back up play in the dvd player; that is not the problem.

Once French and the 32 extras were eliminated, the file was only about 4.5 gig and needed no compression at all....the problem I had is the long pause at the start of the movie in the back up copy. Unless you're willing to wait (and wait, and wait,....), the best way to start the copy is to forward to the second chapter and then play it in reverse to its beginning.....other than that, it's a perfect copy.

Hmm. You can only fit about 4.3GB on a dvd-r. So if you were at 4.5 I wonder how you burned it, unless you were on dual layer.

Single layer....that 4.5 was an aproximation....4.3 or less is probably correct. When I extracted it with mtk, I checked the size by choosing "movie only" extraction....at any rate, there was no need for compression when the extras and French language were removed.....watched it last night, in fact....

Did the same thing with 1-click & DVD 4.3, and thats what I had to do to watch it, rewind back from the 2nd chapter.

If you use dvd2onex you can do a movie only and deselect the first to chapters and get a full movie only backup.
