sound probs after divx conversion

    After converting my avi films through divx to dvd the sound starts of ok at the begining of the film but by the end of the film its out of sink by a minute or two, I tryed changing the settings to ntsc 29/automatic but this made the sound run out even further. can enyone advise me on what i am doing wrong.
