I'm fairly new to dvd coping, and I want to know what everyone's favorite way to copy dvds is. I've tried using the Mac the Ripper/DVD2one/Popcorn, but when I try to load the VIDEO_TS folder into Popcorn, It "Unexpectly Quits" all of the sudden (I download popcorn off of the internet, and used SN, so it's not a "legal" copy). Then I tried using Fast DVD Copy, but that only worked in the trial version for version 4.1, and now I'm using an older version, and it's not working. It rips and compresses fine, but it doesn't think my blank dvds are dvds. So, I want to know ether what I'm doing wrong, or a different way to do it. Thanks.

WHOA! I wouldn't be broadcasting using pirated software...

Anyway, since you are new, you may want to start off with DVDDecrypter, DVDShrink, and DVD43Free. All 3 programs are free (and legal) and you can download them right here on AfterDawn. First of all, though, click on the "Guides" tab at the top of this page and read through the guides for these programs. You might wanna brush up on the Forum Rules as well ;-)

Or start with with this DVDShrink guide:
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm

The guides have the download links in them!!! Good luck. And, oh yeah, make sure you use quality media!!! If you have questions on media, the 3 links in my sig will provide more than enough info.

    ok el_duff..

first off.. u're on a mac so dvd shrink WONT work. its all pc software.

next.. teflonmyk did tell you about the software downloading.. dont post it again.. will get u banned pretty fast around here..

    1. what are the specs on the machine, dvd burner you are using.
    2. what media are you using?
    3. does your burner support that media?
    4. have you upgraded your firmware? made sure its the current one.

popcorn is picky sometimes. i did BUY it.

    never had used fast copy..

hope that gives you some direction.

I'm running an iMac G5 ,2 GHz, 512 ram, with a super drive. I'm using Fujifilm DVD+R. My
burner, must support them, 'cause I've already burned a few dvds.

    ok..

you got the new imac with Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

i'm not sure why the drive would recognize them as not being blank dvds.
i dont know what other media the superdrive likes. you may wanna check around in forums and check with apple. but of course they may just end up telling you that the only ones supported are the apple dvds.

i havent seen any issues with fuji so i'm not sure.

you may just get onto the roxio site to do the updates on the popcorn.

    http://www.roxio.com

your other option on burning is to use DVDImager and then burn with finder burning.
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html

run it thru that.. make into image and burn with finder burning. havent tried it myself but i hear it works just as fine.

hope that helps.. if u got anymore issues.. just post

mactheripper, dvd2onex, toast 6, don't dl the software or movies, it is against the law. u don't want to be banned form here or worse u don't want to pay 250,000 dollars per movie and have to spend 5 years in prison. also chech the laws of your country and state.
