How do i rip a clip from DVD to mpg?

    Hi im new to the whole digtal video thing and im curious on how to do this. I currently know how to back up my dvds but i want to know how to do this to create a compilation DVD. Thanks (i hope i posted in the correct forum!)

    rip the dvd using mactheripper. then find the clip u want to pu in to an mpg format and use ffmpegx to convert it to the mpg file.

    dvdxdv will convert dvd to quicktime. But it won't do encrypted data. So you could rip with mtr and then use dvdxdv on your ripped video_ts folder. Kicks ass.

    what would be the advance to ripping to mpg?

    To edit the video with imovie or final cut pro.
