I have updated Nero to the latest and after creating a *.nrg file from Video TS folders, (using Recode Entire DVD) I load the *.nrg image into a virtual image drive, to test before burning. All seems to work fine but as I skip through chapters or play the movie, it freezes or goes back to the main menu after about 3-5 chapters. It doesn't seem to have encoded properly. Doing it all the time now, but never did before the latest update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times no change. Please help with suggestions!

post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

Thanks Creaky for your help. I will post a little info from the log as it is quite long but if you need the whole thing I will repost. Please let me know if it's not enough.

    - version 1.57 is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2017

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix it via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - it's possible those are faked Ritek G05's - see comments from Gurnard (aftredawn's resident Ritek guru) here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/221419
I shall PM gurnard and ask him to verify this..

    - lots of this error. hmmm....

    - most people recommend burning movies at 4x

    @ mfree hi :)
as creaky says there seems to be a question mark over the Ritek that code out as G-05. rather than G05.
could you run your disc through DVD Identifier and let me have a look at the result. should read
    [bold]Disc & Book type: [DVD-R]-[DVD-R][/bold]
    [bold]Manufactuer Name: [Ritek Corp][/bold]
    [bold]Manufactuer ID: [RITEKG05][/bold]
haven't had one of these disc's myself yet to test.
a scan would be nice as well
@ creaky hi :) will send you a pm

    Hi Guys,
    Here's what I found:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKG05]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
    Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.]
    Manufacturer ID : [RITEKG05]
    Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the discs look real to me. I didn't scan the disc(if thats what you mean) as it's just a plain printable white disc no labels.

I will upgrade the firmware and turn on the DMA's.
I recoded thru DVD Shrink last night and seemed to read and burn without glitches so still makes me believe something to do with Nero Recode (the recoding process) But we're getting somewhere now!

I appreciate your help, it's nice to know there are people out there willing to help newbies, cheers.

    @ mfree hi :)
pleased to see you've got the real deal.
yep no need for a scan now. we (i) know what it will show.
@ creaky hi:) it looks like thats the way nero prints it out.
i think that if the Ritek looks suspect we will have to ask for an id check.
@ mfree ..your more than welcome

    Hey Guys,
Even though I could use DVD Shrink to get my results, it brings me back to the question of why Nero Recode would behave in such a manner? I would like to use Recode as it has done a good job in the past. Is there any other suggestions? I have uninstalled Nero a couple of times and reverted back to an ealier version but had same result. So I upgraded to the latest version again to make sure it wasn't a dodgy install before. Still no change. Would it have anything to do with the HDD being close to full? or fragmented? I will try that next.
    Cheers.
