When burning a movie I want good quality, which is compromised when I also want bonus features included. I use MacTheRipper to extract it (full disk), and then Popcorn to burn it. Of course, I try to compress it as little as possible by taking out extra audio and languages, but those are the only options.
What I want, is to be able to pick and choose which bonus features I am putting on the new DVD. For instance, isn't there a way to include the "commentary" and "outtakes" but not the "deleted scenes" and "trailers"?
I've tried extracting each title set or chapter separtately, but then you can't combine them with Popcorn.... or can you....?
Will a different burning software allow me to do what I want?

i may not be completely sure on this one. but you should be able to check the .vob files with vlc player.. pick out the ones you want. run that folder thru dvd2OneX. then run that thru popcorn. of course you want to test with dvd player before burn

I went to the link for DVD2OneX, and in the description it says that the program removes all extras and menus from the disk. I wouldn't want that... I'd want to keep the menu the same as is, and choose which extras I'd want to keep.

So I'd extract the disk through MTR, and then look at the .VOB files I got from that, use DVD2One to put them together, and then Popcorn to burn it, right?

I don't want to buy DVD2OneX unless this really works...

you can get it to do full features.. you just need to do "disk copy"

your money would be better spent on toast 7.. it will do that and more.

toast 7 has popcorn built in. i just got it and i luv it. its got so many new features.. you should at least check it out.

Will Toast 7 do what I want to do? Make a disc copy without certain extras? I read that thread of the guy who's Toast 7 upgrade isn't working... I think I'll wait until you try it and confirm it works okay, and if you can pull certain bonus features for the backup copy. !!

Otherwise, is the quality when compressing different with different discs or programs? Perhaps a different ripping tool, burning tool, or dvd-r would make a disc have less errors when compressing it the same amount?

with toast 7 you have the same features of toast 6 (and some extra features) and popcorn
built in. but you would take out all the extras. you can choose main movie and then select the
the audio track (s) you want.

you can extract them one by one with MTR and you can use dvd2OneX to combine them and
    then burn with popcorn.

as far as i know there is no way of keeping some features and getting rid of others.

So... I can extract each feature I want (including the main feature) with MTR, then somehow put them together with DVD2One, and then use Popcorn to burn that file. This has been done before? For instance, keeping the commentary but not the deleted scenes? I know I keep asking the same things, I'm just trying to get it straight.

So what's the advantage of having Toast 7 then? It doesn't seem like I really need it if it can't do this particular thing I want.

with dvd2OneX you can choose "disk cop" but and choose the audio trackz you want. with popcorn you have to get rid of the extra features to even get the option of audio trackz.

toast 7 would be toast 6 (with some extra features) and popcorn. but since you already have popcorn you should be fine.

you may just wanna get dvd2OneX, but then it makes little sense to pay that much just to do that.

the compression with either one of these is about the same in quality.

Is there a way just to get a sample of DVD2One first? I could try burning a DVD the way I want, to see if it works.

Hmmm... so it would probably would just get through 30 minutes of the main feature, and not get to any bonus features I chose to include... so that won't work.

I suppose then, that I could find someone who has MTR, DVD2One, and Popcorn to try my little experiment, and see if it works...!

sweet. ok. Here is what I want. Find a DVD with lots of extras: commentary, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, extended scenes, still photos, and anything else that makes it a huge gigabyte disc. Pick out your favorite features besides the Main Feature. Choose just a couple to keep. Extract them with MTR, each separately.... extract the trailors, for instance, separtely. The main feature separtely, and the deleted scenes separately (for instance).
Put them together with DVD2One (somehow... this is the part I don't know about!)
Then burn the disc with Popcorn, and see how it turns out.

I want to know if you can put the DVD-R in your DVD player, and have it work just like normal: you see the main menu, and are able to play the movie like normal, and play the bonus features that you decided to keep.

In theory, I suppose extracting less stuff will lead to less compression needed.

THANKS!! I can't wait to hear how it turns out!!

    i'll check that out
its not like i have to burn it.. once i combine them back to one folder.. i should be able to play with dvd player.

mean girls is a good one.. the movie itself is only 4.3gbs. but the disk is like 7.5-8gbs.. all the damn features..

    i'll keep you posted
